In statements to ACI Prensa, Father Góngora pointed out that “video games are part of an entertainment industry that has grown exponentially in recent decades, and as such I do not believe that they are good or bad by themselves, but rather according to their use and the “end that is sought.”

When asked if a Catholic can play video games, the priest affirms that he himself has been a “video game consumer since childhood, especially shooters or sports.”

In that sense, he specified, “there is no problem as long as it is used appropriately and knowing the warnings from the creators themselves.”

When asked if there are positive aspects to this practice, Father Góngora points out: “Beyond the recreational dimension, I think it can help improve aspects such as competitiveness and camaraderie.”

However, the priest specified that “we must also be aware of the risks such as the possibility of generating addiction and certain obsessions that are not healthy for the body and soul.”
