Ford evaluates producing the Ranger single cab again in Argentina

Ford is presenting a prototype of the Ranger Simple Cab at Fenatran, the main transportation fair in the region that takes place every two years in São Paulo, Brazil. The pickup is one of the biggest attractions that the brand exhibits at its stand next to the new Transit line -which will arrive in Argentina in 2025- and different solutions for fleet management.

Although it has not yet been confirmed, it is believed that the brand would produce this version again at the General Pacheco plant at end of next yearthus recovering a variant that was discontinued with the launch of the new generation.

The Ranger Single Cab prototype had already been exhibited a few days ago as an avant premiere for the press and local dealers, which generated expectations in the sector.

At the moment there are two models that offer single cab variants in Brazil: Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet S10. The Ford Ranger could become the third option. The company commented that they will be very receptive to the responses of the public who visit the fair.

For its part, the only offer available in Argentina with this configuration is offered by Toyota Hilux. If manufactured again in Pacheco, the Ranger It would also have a chassis cab version.

Currently the Ranger range has nine double cab versions equipped with two turbodiesel engines (2.0 with 170 HP and 3.0 V6 with 250 HP) and a bi-turbodiesel (2.0 with 210 HP), six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmissions, and 4×2 and 4×4 traction systems.

The Ford Ranger single cab is distinguished by offering greater capabilities than the four-door version. For example, can load up to 1,250 kiloswhile its volume amounts to 1,870 liters (1,230 liters in the double cabin).

Although no technical data was specified, Ford reported that it could have both the 170 HP 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine and the 210 HP bi-turbodiesel, manual and automatic transmission, and single and all-wheel drive system (with rear differential lock).

“The truck is capable of carrying all the mechanical configurations already present in the double cab, including the V6 engine. However, we must analyze the public’s responses and what the greatest demands are,” said Guillermo Lastra, director of commercial vehicles at Ford, in a press conference in which he participated. Clarion.

The truck would also maintain attributes already present in the double cab variant, such as suspension with shock absorbers external to the chassis, resized braking system, the highest fording capacity in the category (800 mm), and advanced driving assistance resources.

The Ranger single cab has been a classic in the history of the model in Argentina. The first units that began to be manufactured in 1997 were single cabin and were equipped with a powerful engine for the time, a 116 HP Maxion 2.5. Shortly after, the double cabin was added exclusively for the region.
