for the first time, all the hits, one after the other

The logo projected on the Hall’s huge screen shows an iconic Pixar character, from the first era and the current one: Buzz Lightyear with a baton in his hand. This is how the public is received at the Teatro Colón, which is about to enjoy Pixar in concert.

The company released its first film almost 30 years ago: it was Toy Storyin 1995 and gave way to countless hits and great productions.

Although there were and are others Pixar in concert around the world (in Brussels, in Paris, in Mexico), it was put together especially for the Teatro Colón.

There is a summary of each of the films – not all of them are there, but almost – and at the same time new songs are interspersed.

But the highlight, of course, is seeing images of The Incredibles, Finding Nemosome of Toy Story, Brave y Coco.

The Academic Orchestra of the Teatro Colón is back on stage, like last year in Disney 100 in concert, and its almost 70 members occupy a good part of the stage, leaving a space in the middle. The conductor, Ezequiel Silberstein, is on one side, along with the first violinist, Camila Ramírez.

Silberstein is already known to Disney fans: he started with Star Wars: A New Hope in concert. And he tries on the showman suit again, but a calm showman: he interacts with the audience and with characters from Pixar films, such as Edna Moda, from The Incredibleswho is the one who goes from the audience to the stage and welcomes the audience.

"Toy Story" It has the presence of his first three films.

Very soon, after the fanfare with fragments of the films that will later be seen, Sullivan and Mike Wazowski, from Monsters, Inc. They arrive on stage, and the Oscar winner is heard If I didn’t have you -the first of several Randy Newman compositions that will be heard, and which won the Oscar for best song-: it is the one that instantly wins the hearts of the audience.

The table lamp is projected as a separator, yes, the one that appears in the presentation of each Pixar film, which performs an action and gives an animated indication of what will follow.

And what follows is barbaric: the Suite of Finding Nemo, Feastof RatatouilleFollowing Cars and one of the most emotional moments of the show, with when she loved mealso by Randy Newman, with Jessie longing for her owner who abandoned her, by Toy Story 2.

And the first part of the show is yet to end, with two films that are not among Pixar’s most popular: Luca y Brave with four pipers included on stage.

Second part

After the interval, Bob Parr, the father of The Incredibles, appears. He looks much skinnier than in Brad Bird’s film. And after the Suite from the film, comes the one from Intensely y Lavafrom the short film of the same name.

And get ready, because the best is coming. A dancer arrives from the central aisle of the stalls, with a lot of colored balloons: she is coming Married Lifeof Up. And what follows is no less good: I am your faithful friendof Toy Storywith Woody, Buzz and Jessie on stage, plus the suite of Toy Story 3 (when the characters are about to be cremated…).

They want more? Get ready, because not one, not two, but three songs of Coco (Remember meOscar winner, A bit crazy y The beat of my heart).

In all cases, there is a projection on the upper part of the curtain, and even rags are placed, as in Cocohanging.

Parat the end, an instrumental version of I am your faithful friendy Nobody Like Uof Red.

It is estimated that, with a capacity of 2,000 spectators, 32,000 people will see Pixar in concert. Another success in just 9 days.
