From Thursday night there were heavy rains that caused the flood of rivers that have mainly affected the city of Kerville, in Kerr County. So far there are 27 deaths, including 9 children.
In addition, more than 850 people were evacuated and about 20 girls attending a camp are missing.
Given this situation, the Archdiocese of San Antonio reported That the Church of Notre Dame de Kerville “has opened its gym in 929 Main Street to the evacuees looking for refuge after floods.” Likewise, Catholic charities are already in the place “to provide food, clothing, hygiene and water products to those who need them.”
He also indicated that the archbishop of San Antonio, Mons. Gustavo García-Siller; And the auxiliary bishop, Mons. Michael Boulette, have traveled to Kerville to serve the victims and give comfort to the families of the victims and missing.
“On Sunday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m., in the Church of Notre Dame in Kerville, a special Mass will be held to pray for the deceased and the missing persons, as well as by the comfort of their families and communities of Hill Country. The Mass will be chaired by Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, and the new pastor, Father Scott Janysek,” he said.
