Miramar It is in the memory and collective imagination of several generations of Argentines. It is the spa with a family profile. The city of children. The one with long walks along the coast. The one with the enchanted forests.
The city of General Alvarado Party offers those attractions and others that profile it as a broader destination, due to a wide gastronomic and artistic offer and a “low cost” profile that it wants to promote for the summer months.
Here are five reasons to take Miramar into account when choosing your next vacation.
1) The Energy Forest, a classic
In Miramar is the Florentino Ameghino Dunícola Nursery, with 512 hectares full of pines, acacias and eucalyptus, among other species. But there are four hectares that are special and concentrate the interest of visitors. That portion of the nursery is called the Energy Forest.
The place received its name after the analysis of scientist Livio Vinardi, who developed work on the “bioplasmic potential” of the world’s forests and highlighted the concentration of energy in the foliage of these trees.
Even today It is a mystery – and a reason for visitors to play – the magnetic question that keeps the branches together and in balance, forming a “T” that rotates to the sides alternatively.
The plan there is to sit and let yourself be carried away by the energy of the trees or whatever brings us well-being.
“The best way to take advantage of what you feel is to make contact with the pine trees with your palms open, your forehead, your entire body supported in a relaxed and calm manner. Always in silence and preferably with your eyes closed,” advises Carlos Pagliardini, who for years has been one of those responsible for the guided tours of the place.
2) Cultural Park of the Esteban Svast International Art Biennial
The Miramar International Art Biennial made a place on the arts agenda in the country. With the aim of highlighting an area of the city, this park was created at the entrance to Route 11.
It is a cultural circuit, free public accesswith more than 130 murals and sculptures that emerged from those biannual meetings of public art and muralism with the participation of artists from all over the world.
Among all, there is one that draws special attention. It is a work in the Sanitary Works tank, which shows two happy children about to take a dip. It was made by Martín Ron and last year it received the title of “Best mural in the world” by the prestigious Street Art Cities platform. Ron is the muralist who also did the realistic work of Diego Armando Maradona on Avenida San Juan at 1600.
3) A local paella, awarded worldwide
Ingredients from the sea and the countryside are combined in the gastronomy of Miramar, which offers a wide range of restaurants and, for those with a sweet tooth, chocolate shops, artisanal ice cream parlors and pastry shops.
There is a restaurant that, since September, has been a source of pride for the city. It’s called Socarrat and it entered the Top 3 of the best paellas in the world in the 2024 Valencian Paella International Competition.
The first prize went to a restaurant from Valencia, the second to one from Tenerife and the third to the Argentine establishment, which is run by Juan Kittlein. The chef stood out for his way of preparing the traditional Spanish dish, fired over firewood and with snails.
4) Skate Park
Kids and lovers of acrobatics and vertigo can try out the Miramar Skate Park, one of the most important in Argentina.
It has a maximum depth of just over three meters in the main pot and was the scene of international competitions in recent years.
In the Sports Center Playón, where the park dedicated to skate, there are also other spaces for basketball and an aerobic circuit.
5) The beaches
There are the busiest beaches in the center. The quietest -and rustic- in the north.
Both Miramar and the neighboring resorts (Mar del Sud and Centinela del Mar) offer large stretches of riverside to enjoy in the summer and throughout the year with practices such as surfing, hiking, yoga and fishing, one of Miramar’s strengths.
Plans can continue with practice at some of the golf clubs, coastal and artisan walks, and a visit to the dunes with 4×4 vehicles. Miramar is in our collective memory, with green fields and a city that unfolds with the sea in the background.
