The Bishop of Orihuela-Alicante, Mons. José Ignacio Munilla, has elaborated on his reflections on the declaration Begging for confidence of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith on the blessing of homosexual people.
In an interview published by Religion in Freedomthe prelate points out that the text signed by the Prefect of the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, and Pope Francis “does not affirm anything that is against the faith of the Church.”
In his opinion, “the accusation of heresy” that some have pointed out about the text “has no objective basis in the text”, although he understands that “this declaration was not necessary”, as there is another one from 2021, also endorsed by the Pope Francis who “was not at all contrary to the signs of pastoral charity” regarding homosexual people.
