Fiat announced that it will begin manufacturing the Titano pickup in Argentina

Stellantis, the automotive giant that, among other brands, has Fiat under its umbrella, announced this weekend during its summer actions that the Titano pickup will be the first member of a new family of models that will begin production at its Ferreya complex, province of Córdoba.

Although it is news that was about to fall, until now the brand had not made it official. In this way, the Italian brand will have a truck in each segment, except among the largest (full size) where Ram, another Stellantis automaker, competes.

The offer begins with the Strada, a small truck that for a few years has been the most chosen on the total market in Brazil. It continues with the Toro, a compact truck that also leads its segment. But until now it had no representation in the most important category in the entire region, that of medium-sized flats.

The Fiat Titano will begin selling in the middle of the year and will compete in the one-ton pickup segment along with other national models such as Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok, Nissan Frontier and Renault Alaskan. The Chevrolet S10 is also part of the list of competitors, although it is the only one produced in Brazil.

Soon the national Titano will supply the domestic market and others in the region (mainly Brazil).

At the end of 2024 Stellantis had announced the investment of 385 million dollars in its Córdoba Industrial Center for the manufacture of a family of products, components and a new engine.

The New Fiat Titano will be the first pickup manufactured by the Stellantis Group in Argentina, which will represent the birth of a product that will mark a milestone in national production, in one of the most competitive segments of the market.

“The arrival of Titano will be very important for Fiat without a doubt. A brand with a very strong weight in our country, among the most chosen by Argentines,” said Martín Zuppi, President of Stellantis Argentina.

In Brazil it is currently offered with a 180 HP 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine. The Argentine Titano will have another engine. In Brazil it is currently offered with a 180 HP 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine. The Argentine Titano will have another engine.

The other models that have not yet been revealed would be two other midsize pickups. It is estimated that one could be the Peugeot Landtrek (produced only for export), while the other would be an unreleased Ram model.

Getting to know Titano

To know the origin of the Titano, we must go back to 2017, when Peugeot reached an agreement with the Chinese manufacturer Changan to manufacture a medium-sized truck. In this way, the Landtrek pickup from the lion brand was born.

Four years later, Stellantis was created, the conglomerate that brings together the Fiat, Peugeot, Jeep, Citroën, DS and RAM brands in our region. It was there when the Italian company saw the opportunity to have a new model that would expand its truck offering.

Using the base of the Landtrek, which delayed its arrival in the Argentine market, Fiat made some adjustments to the suspension to present its truck on Brazilian soil.

Until now, the Titano was assembled at the Nordex complex (Uruguay), where the imported parts arrived to be assembled. From there, the pickup was mainly exported to Brazil. However, the Uruguayan variant will soon be replaced by the Argentine pickup, which will supply both the local market and other countries in the region.

The brand did not reveal technical data or how its range will be made up, but they did emphasize that it will have a new engine (in the neighboring country it is offered with a 180 HP 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine), new design and more technology.
