Nearly seven thousand people, most with some disability, participated on August 24 in a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Santa María de Guadalupe in Mexico City, “to give voice, make visible and support people with disabilities.”
The mobilization, called “A Mexico with Love and Peace,” departed from the Peralvillo roundabout and concluded in the Marian Temple, headed by Víctor González Torres, better known as Dr. Simi, founder of similar pharmacies.

According to a statement shared with ACI Prensa, the pilgrimage initiative sought to promote and promote “actions that promote the integral development of people with disabilities and their integration into society, mainly in the workplace.”
The National Demographic Dynamics Survey (ENADID) conducted in 2023, points out that in Mexico there are 8.8 million people with disabilities, which is equivalent to 7.2 % of the five -year -old population. As noted, the most common limitations are to see, even with lenses (45.8 %), and to walk or climb stairs (40.3 %).
Legislative proposals
After the Mass in the Basilica, González Torres announced that he will present at the Congress of the Union, two bills. The first states that companies can fiscally deduce “twice the salary paid to people with disabilities.” The second aims to grant greater benefits to charity institutions, “so that those who have resources help those who have less.”
The businessman explained that with these measures we seek to increase the tax deductions up to 25 % to support foundations that work with people with disabilities, as well as with cancer patients, HIV, people in street situations and other vulnerable populations.
In the same statement it was stressed that these actions would ensure that the beneficiaries “would have an income that would allow them to live with dignity, and their maintenance would be a less problem for the State.”
Similar pharmacies also uses people with disabilities in various areas. Through the Cinia company, they participate in the elaboration of the popular stuffed animals of the chain mascot, as well as in the preparation of uniforms and medical batters.
