Fact check: Does Pope Francis appear on Epstein’s list?

In the more than 1,000 pages of interrogations, a “Pope” is mentioned only twice. Her name is not mentioned and this appears in the middle of the statement of a witness who states that in Epstein’s residence in Palm Beach, in the state of Florida, there was, on a wall full of photographs, “a photo of Ghislaine with the Dad”.

The interrogator then asks if Maxwell appears dressed in the photo with the Pontiff, something confirmed by the witness.

The only two mentions of a Pope of the Catholic Church in the declassified documents of the Giuffre v. Maxwell. Available at: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24253239-1324-epstein-documents-943-pages. Credit: documentcloud.org / USA Today

The photo referred to in the document is probably one in which Epstein and Maxwell are seen receiving a blessing from Saint John Paul II. The picture has circulated strongly on social networks in recent days, even being used to attack the Polish Pope and the Catholic Church, accusing her implicitly and explicitly of being an organization that “covers up pedophiles.”
