Francisco de Vitoria University of Madrid (Spain) hosted this week an international symposium that considers the encyclical Loves us It is a key document to understand the pontificate of Pope Francis.
In the inaugural session, the Archbishop of Toledo, Mons. Francisco Cerro, stressed that Loves us It renews the spirituality of the heart of Christ and links it to the repair of the world, especially in the face of the pain of the poorest, according to the university in a statement.

The president of the Institute of the Heart of Christ, P. José María Alsina, defined the document as “the piece that gives stability to the arc of the magisterium” of Pope Francis and broken down the five “theological nerves” it contains.
The first is relative to the consideration of Christ as a redeemer of man, an issue that illuminates the idea that “the mystery of the heart of man only clarifies in the light of the heart of the embodied verb.”
The second is divine mercy, since the Holy Father moves that “the world desperately needs a God who abages to heal their wounds.” Third, Father Alsina highlighted how the Pontiff looks at the fact that “mystics such as Margarita María de Alacoque or Carlos de Foucault have reconfigured devotion to the sacred heart for our time.”
The last two pillars of the document enunciated refer to the mission in a secularized world and charity as a foundation, which lead us to take into account that “we evangelize in a postcristian society, where laws are anti -Christian” and also that “the love of Christ is unconditional, even when man responds with indifference.”
During the symposium it was revealed that Loves us “It is not only a pontifical teaching, but an invitation to discover a deeply embodied spirituality, which responds with love to the suffering of the world.”
