Enrique Duprat: Mother Angelica always knew how to live in the providence of God

Enrique Duprat, vice president of Ewtn’s Spanish production, shared some reflections on Mother Angelica, founder of the Catholic television network, within the framework of the ninth anniversary of her death.

Duprat, of Venezuelan nationality, personally met the religious pioneer in Catholic communication, and said that “he always touched the heart of all of us, those who have worked in Ewtn.” The manager remarked “the blessing” that meant for him and his whole family to be able to enjoy the closeness of Mother Angelica, in a special way of her characteristic humor.

“He was a strong person, but also very funny and very good,” added Ewtn’s manager.

After sharing some anecdotes that reveal the great love that Mother Angelica felt for the Lord, Duprat recalled a special phrase of the religious that touched her heart: “Enrique, we must not be afraid to make a fool of the Lord.”

“That has always guided me,” Duprat said. “Taking risks, knowing that when the Lord wants something one has to do it with the providence of God, which is, in my personal opinion, the most important point of the life of the Angelica mother: she lived in the providence of God,” he added.

“If one day our dear Mother Angelica becomes on the altarsthis is my personal opinion: I do not think it will be for communications or anything like that, but to know how to live in the providence of God, that provides while one does what the Lord puts you in your heart, ”Duprat remarked.

The vice president of Ewtn’s Spanish production assured that Mother Angelica “always understood that Spanish -speakers, in the United States and in Latin America, we have a very special love for our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary.”

“She was always very close to us. Few people know that Ewtn Network is under the protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe and that the creation of the channel was signed on December 12. She always had the Hispanic community very close to her heart,” Duprat said.

“So much so, that when he decides to go to Latin America to travel several countries, there he makes the decision to create an exclusive channel in Spanish, with original programming in Spanish, he did it without waiting to receive any economic income from the Hispanic community. She decided that this was not important, but to transmit the beauty and message of the Gospel to the entire community, which remains one of the central bases of the Ewtn family,” he concluded.
