The 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Taiwan on April 3 was the strongest the country felt in 25 years. Father Pablo Trollano, an Argentine missionary who has lived there for 11 years, was found by the natural disaster celebrating Holy Mass, and he went out with the faithful “with the chalice in his hand.”
The Taiwan earthquake had its epicenter about 18 kilometers from the city of Hualien, on the country’s east coast. At least 16 people were killed and more than a thousand were injured.
In statements to ACI Prensa, Father Trollano recalled: “we were in the chapel on the second floor of the church, at Mass, after receiving Communion, when everything started to move.”
