The Diocese of Vitoria (Spain) has launched a synodal macro-survey with the idea of developing its fourth diocesan evangelization plan for the coming years, which will be fully announced in mid-2025.
The new pastoral document is open to contributions from the faithful, who must send the form proposed before January 7. The intention is to offer a draft of the plan in early 2025 to parishes, communities, schools and associations of the faithful.
The diocese thus assumes “the ‘synod mode’ where co-responsibility and listening are its hallmarks for community work,” as stated in a statement.
Those who wish to participate in this process can fill out the document in which five files are presented.
The first four invite an evaluation of the previous evangelization plan, through its fundamental lines of action: The diocesan church creating community; The transmission of the message of Jesus; Live and celebrate faith; y Confession of faith and social commitment with the Samaritan Church.
The fifth sheet of the macro-survey is dedicated to raising new proposals for the new plan, whose structure will be based on the biblical story of the disciples of Jesus who walked from Jerusalem to Emmaus.
In it, three stages are identified: disenchantment, sadness, hopelessness and non-recognition of Jesus; the encounter with Him, who explains the Scriptures to them and who makes Himself known in the breaking of the bread; and returning to the community, telling what had happened to them.
“Under this guiding thread, the new Plan will take into account other points of reference: nurturing the synodal spirit in our diocesan Church, the first proclamation, the vocational dimension of Christian life, the spirituality of co-responsibility…” can read in the introduction of the survey.
As stated in the statement sent to the media by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Vitoria, Carlos García Llata, the entire process will be led by “the Diocesan Pastoral Council that represents the entirety of our Church” and will only be possible “with the participation of “The more, the better.”
The survey can be sent physically to the Bishopric of Vitoria or via email pde@diocesisvitoria.org or completed directly through an online form.
