The long-awaited meeting between Victor White y Diego Militoperhaps two of the candidates for president of Racing in the December elections, took place this Thursday and both parties highlighted the positive aspects of the talk, although for now the possibility of a unity list was ruled out. “There is a long way to go until October 15, the day the lists close”they told from Blanco’s side. “The relationship between Diego and Víctor was always very good, but there is no possibility of them getting together”clarified those close to the Prince.
Diego Milito was the one who took the first step toward rapprochement. The captain and champion with the 2014 Transition Tournament Academy sent a message to the president the day before the announcement of his candidacy through a video published on his social networks. Blanco’s response never came: he claims that he did not see the message. That’s why he Prince He took his phone to summon him to a meeting in an office in Puerto Madero. And Blanco confirmed his presence.
“There was talk about Racing, the present and the future”they explained to Clarion from the ruling party. They also emphasize that the possibility of an alliance was not considered. They insisted: “There is still a long way to go until the lists close”.
Milito’s position regarding possible unity seems to be inflexible because the club models they think about are different. “Diego left at the time because he did not agree with the structure. The intention at that time was to take a step forward and professionalize the areas”they say from the sector of the former Inter Italy scorer, among others.
“I do not share the model and ideas of the president’s club. I feel that I have not been heard and that is why I leave you the space so that you can continue with your ideas.. I got involved three years ago to try to persuade and show a different path: that of the professionalization of an area as important as sports. I think it has been successful. With errors and virtues, the results are visible”explained Milito at the time, when he resigned from the Technical Secretary of the Avellaneda cast.
What was discussed, then, in the meeting that lasted just over an hour? Football, mainly. And Milito referred to what could be a possible transition, in case Blanco does not appear. In any case, the feeling that remains is that the current president no longer rules out competing in December against the idol. “Milito was surprised by the progress of the works in Ezeiza, which will be inaugurated at the end of the year with two fields, a gym and the locker room area”they said.
Neither Blanco nor Milito came out to make off-screen statements so they expressed themselves through their collaborators. They met, measured each other, and both showed their cards. Unity, for now, is a distant word.
