Dictatorship of Nicaragua Confisca emblematic San José de Jinotepe Catholic College

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and his wife and “co -president” Rosario Murillo in Nicaragua confiscated, on August 12, the emblematic San José Catholic College in Jinotepe, accusing the Center for Studies of having been a place where “the coup tortured and murdered”.

In statements released by a half related to dictatorshipMurillo said that “we have a new educational center. This is an achievement of the peace that we live, that we protect, that we deserve. In Jinotepe, a center where he was tortured, murdered the coup during the criminal occupation and murdered companions and colleagues and where did those crimes occur? In the San José school, unfortunately”.

“That school has been transferred to the State, for being emblematic of barbarism but at the same time of the dignified and victorious struggle, in this case the Jinotepe family that we defeated coup,” he added.

“It will bear the name, already in the hands of the Nicaraguan state, of the hero, of the martyr companion Bismarck Martínez” whose “murder moved the entire country” in 2018.

Martínez was a Sandinista sympathizer who disappeared on the night of June 29, 2018, when he spent in his vehicle near the San José de Jinotepe school, and would have been “kidnapped, tortured and missing.” The regime has made Martínez a martyr to “reinforce her narrative” about the alleged “coup d’etat”, explains the confidential newspaper.

Jinotepe was one of the localities that suffered most the “cleaning operation” of the Nicaragua dictatorship against the civilian population that had taken to the streets to protest against the regime. The night of July 8, 2018 hundreds of police and paramilitaries invaded the town. According to the newspaper Article 66at least 32 people were killed.

“An infamy for religious freedom”

Martha Patricia Molina, researcher and author of the report Nicaragua: a persecuted churchthat in its last edition they get almost 1,000 attacks of the dictatorship against the Catholic Church since 2018, he told ACI Press that August 12 is a “date that will be marked as a day of infamy for the religious freedom of Nicaragua.”

“The dictatorship has once again executed a strong blow to the Catholic Church to confiscate the San José de las Monjitas Josefinas School”, which since the 1980s gave a good education to many Nicaraguans.

“The confiscation will have negatively impact on children and young people who received a quality education and will now be indoctrinated by the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship. In addition to confiscating the property of the nuns, the co-dictator Rosario Murillo calls them murderous and torturers,” Molina lamented.

However, the researcher said, “we all know that the Josefinas sisters since they settled in Nicaragua in February 1915 have educated children in Christian and humanistic values based on the love of others and the practice of charity.”

Parents concern: they don’t want to “indoctrination of a dictatorship”

Parents, who will have a different school in their form as of Monday, August 18 with a new director related to the dictatorship, expressed concern about the future of their children.

A mother, identified as Cecilia, told the newspaper Confidential that “this shameless robbery of the school where we study generations of professionals is unfortunate and to which they accuse of invented crimes, where the only thing the nuns did was to attend injured and take refuge to the population in front of the bullets and the terrible repression during 2018”.

On what will happen with her daughter, the woman was clear: “I do not want him to end in a school where the only thing there will be indoctrination of a dictatorship.”

For his part, another father, identified only as Santiago, said he was “bad and sad”, but “with deep anger because they are damaging how little was left of private quality education.”
