The scheduled tour of the boat – which was carried on board 277 crew members, including 147 cadets of the Heroic Naval Military School of Mexico – included 22 ports in 15 countries, including Kingston (Jamaica), Havana (Cuba), New York (United States), Reykiavik (Iceland), London (United Kingdom) and Avilés (Spain). The tour had to take a total of 254 days.

From Mexico City, the Cathedral Metropolitan Cabildo said in An X post that “elevates its prayers for the staff of the Mexican Navy, belonging to the Cuauhtémoc School ship, after the unfortunate accident in Brooklyn, NY.”
