Pope Leo XIV has appointed Mons. Farly Yovany Gil Betancur as Apostolic Administrator of Montería (Colombia), diocese that was grazing by Mons. Ramón Alberto Rolón Güepsa until last June.
The news was given today by the Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Mons. Paolo Rudelli, during the canonical possession ceremony of Mons. Rolón Güepsa as the new Bishop of Chiquinquirá.

Mons. Gil Betancur is currently Bishop of Montelíbano and will also ensure the Diocese of Montería until Leo XIV designates the new bishop of this ecclesiastical jurisdiction.
Who is Mons. Farly Gil Betancur?
Mons. Farly Gil Betancur was born in Donmatías, in the Colombian department of Antioquia, on June 29, 1974.
He was formed at the Santo Tomás de Aquino Diocesan Seminary, in Santa Rosa de Osos, and received the priestly ordination on November 21, 2000.
The prelate is a degree in Philosophy and Religious Education of the Catholic University Foundation of the North (FUCN) and Doctor of Canon Law of the Pontifical Javeriana University.
Within his experience is having been the formator and prefect of the Minor Seminar of the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos, as well as trainer and then rector of the Santo Tomás de Aquino diocesan Seminary.
He has also been a member of the Presbyteral Council, Colegio de Consultores and Diocesan Council of Economic Affairs, as well as defender of the Diocesan Ecclesiastical Court’s link.
He was deputy secretary of the Colombian Episcopate during the 2017-2020 period. On March 4, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Montelíbano.
