Due to the forest fires that have been happening for a few days in Bogotá, local authorities have decided to close the path that leads to the Monserrate Sanctuary, located on one of the so-called eastern hills of the Colombian capital.
Since January 22, firefighters have been fighting to put out the fires that have broken out in various parts of the mountains, especially on the so-called El Cable hill, about four kilometers from the sanctuary.
The prolongation of the fires has led the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, through the District Institute of Recreation and Sports, to temporarily close the pedestrian path that athletes and pilgrims use to reach the sanctuary, as well as nine parks located on the slopes of the hills. .
