Colombia: Catholic Church mourns death of soldiers in ELN attack

The Military Bishop of Colombia, Mons. Víctor Manuel Ochoa Cadavid, expressed his solidarity with the families of the soldiers who died due to the terrorist attack by the National Liberation Army (ELN) and pointed out that it is necessary to continue working for “a sincere peace.”

On Tuesday the 17th, the military base in Puerto Jordán, in the department of Arauca, was the target of a terrorist attack by the ELN that left 3 soldiers dead and more than 20 injured.

The attack occurred in the midst of the crisis that negotiations between the government and the guerrilla are going through to reach a peace agreement, since on August 3 the bilateral ceasefire that both parties had agreed to expired.
