“As a pastor of this particular Church of Cali and on behalf of the families and the communities that suffer the ravages of violence, I express our repudiation with deep pain in the face of the desire and materialization of human evil that aims to end the dignity and life of the most fragile,” he said.
Given this, Mons. Rodríguez called “those who hold weapons to stop violence and promote a culture of peace and fully fulfill the fifth commandment that the Lord has left us’ You will not kill.”
He also asked God to “grant us to understand this commandment as a call to love and mercy and to live fully respecting human dignity.”
“Families who suffer the loss of murdered brothers, hug them into faith and hope and ask the authorities to clarify the facts and seek viable strategies for the defense of life and peaceful coexistence in our city,” he said.
