This weekend a new edition of the national collection is held in Argentina for less, a solidarity initiative of the Episcopal Commission for the most needy regions, which this year carries the slogan “Today your help is Hope Live”.
The archbishop of Buenos Aires, Mons. Jorge García Cuerva, summoned the faithful and people of good will to offer their contribution. “Help, committing us, being generous with our poorest brothers also helps us to encourage us to build a more fair, more equitable country,” he said.

With this collection, explained the Prelate, “we collaborate and attend a lot of families and a lot of projects, especially in the poorest areas of the country.”
Finally, he asked that God bless us and “help each of us to make that hope for our poorest brothers,” encouraging “we all participate”:
This is the 56th edition of the collection, which is held every year in all the masses of the second Sunday of September, often extended to the masses throughout the weekend.
The support of more for less helps relieve the difficulties of much of the population in the interior of the country, especially the poorest areas. In that sense, it constitutes a bridge between those who have the most and those who have little, or nothing.
The Argentine bishops describe the collection as “a space created to compensate for the lack of social equity”, being one of the solidarity initiatives with the greatest weight within the Catholic Church, with the focus on mitigating the deep inequality of resources existing in the country.
Moreover, it is a help tool so that the Church can reach everyone with its message and its concrete works of solidarity, seeking to strengthen with resources the proposal to live the good news of the Gospel, without leaving anyone outside and helping to form responsible, honest and fair citizens.
