He was left without challengers, no one dared to confront him in the elections called for next October 17, so Claudio ‘Chiqui’ Tapia will be re-elected as president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) until 2028, pushed by unanimous support in the Interior Leagues and the majority of the Professional League clubs, and backed by the successes of a Argentine National Team major who obtained the third World Cup star and the recent two-time Copa América championship.
This Monday until 6:00 p.m. there was a deadline to present the lists and endorsements that intended to participate in the Ordinary Assembly, but there was only one list, headed by Tapia, but with several modifications within the leadership.
“This list is made up of the best Argentine soccer leaders. The new members have a great commitment to work so that we have better football. The gratitude is total,” said Tapia, as reflected on the official AFA website. Clerk Paula Macadar, she added, “found that only one list was presented.”
From now on, the General Directorate will forward it to the Electoral Commission and the Ethics Court for the purposes of the admissibility and suitability examinations.
