In addition, he recommended that parents teach their young children that the figures in the manger are not “toys,” but rather images that together commemorate the birth of Jesus as the Savior of humanity.
“The statues or figures in the manger, especially if they represent the Holy Family, are worthy of veneration and respect for what they represent and we must instill in our children that they are not toys,” he added.
In addition to the Holy Family, he specified that other figures such as angels, the Three Wise Men, shepherds and even animals have a special meaning that is worth teaching to the little ones in the home.
