Christmas 2024: Children’s Choir Acolytes of Huancavelica sings Christmas carol Eternal candor

The 21 little ones who are part of the Acolyte Children’s Choir of Huancavelica, in the Andean region of Peru, sing the Christmas carol “Huiñay Chuya” (Eternal candor) this Christmas, from the imperial city of Cusco, the so-called “navel of the world” .

The video of the cheerful song, performed in Quechua and Spanish, was released a few days ago and allows you to see some important places in Cusco such as the cathedral, the Museum of the Convent of Santo Domingo del Cusco – Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun), and the fortress from Sacsayhuamán, the latter the place where every year in June the festival of the sun or Inti Raymi is celebrated.

In statements to ACI Prensa, Father Carlos Esteban López Bonifacio, promoter of the choir, highlighted the importance of recording in these places such as Qorikancha; “which was the temple of the god inti, or sun, and now it is a Catholic temple, and there we recreate the birth of Jesus Christ, the true Sun.”

The priest also highlighted his gratitude to “God and everyone who has supported us because it has truly been a huge effort, it has required a lot of effort on the part of the parents, the children and also the support of people because it has cost a lot to carry out this project.” , the one that has cost us the most of all.”

After thanking the intercession of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, Father López highlighted how difficult it has been to carry out this project, especially in the “economic part”, since Huancavelica is one of the poorest places in Peru, but He commented that finally “it has been fulfilled: enjoy it and share it. Merry Christmas everyone!”

The Huancavelica Children’s Acolyte Choir, with more than a decade of experience and roots in the San Juan Evangelista parish, made a trip of more than 15 hours by land from that place to Cusco.

The choir was born in 2011 in a Christmas carol competition. Since then, they have recorded eight videos and have a repertoire that includes Eucharistic, vocational and pro-life themes. One of its objectives is the promotion of religious vocations.
