Chile: First degree relic of Carlo Acutis is venerated by young people

Close to his canonization, recently announced by Pope Francis, a first-degree relic of Carlo Acutis is in a Franciscan house in Santiago, Chile for veneration.

In this case, the relic belongs to the hair of the young man, who died in 2006, at the age of 15, due to leukemia, and whose popularity spread, especially among young Catholics.

Known as the “Cyberapostle of the Eucharist”, Carlo Acutis managed to combine his love for the Blessed Jesus and his love for technology, creating a website with information about the Eucharistic Miracles that have occurred in the world, a page that can still be visited today.

In Chile, the relic is located in the Franciscan Youth House “San Felipe de Jesús”, located at Chiloé 1420, in the center of Santiago.

From there, the invitation the faithful is to be able to visit it, and establish “a highway to God” through the future saint, whose second miracle was approved on May 23 by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.

His canonization whose date is not yet defined but it is possible that it will be celebrated in 2025, it will make him the first “millennial saint”.

Father Luis Cisternas, Franciscan priest, explained to the newscast Tu Día 13, that the procedures to bring the relic to Chile began in the Sanctuary of Dispossession, in Assisi (Italy), where the remains of Blessed Acutis rest.

“He was beatified in 2020, and in 2019 we began the efforts due to the fact that this house is a youth house, and his life testimony has a lot to say, especially to the young people of this time.”

“Only in 2021 were we able to get our hands on the relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis,” he said, explaining that obtaining a relic is managed through the bishop. “In this case we requested it with the provincial minister at that time,” he explained.

Those who wish to come to venerate the relic of Carlo Acutis can do so from Tuesday to Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., or from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (local time), at the Franciscan Youth House.
