In recent days, the Catholic Church in Chile joined in the pain and work in solidarity with those affected by the forest fire that occurred in the Valparaíso region, for which 122 deaths have already been confirmed.
The Bishop of Valparaíso, Bishop Jorge Vega Velasco, led a prayer chain this weekend to ask for the victims of the fires, their families and communities, as well as for the organizations that are deployed on the ground to control the fires and assisting to the affected neighbors.
The prelate pointed out that at the time of recording the video, the damage to Viña del Mar included the total loss of a parish temple and a chapel. In Quilpué a total loss was recorded in a chapel, while another temple was damaged in Villa Alemana.
