The public is invited to attend the next “unique celebration in the life of the choice of Pope Leo XIV, the first Pope born and raised in the Chicago area.”

“The message of Pope Leo XIV of peace, unity and the key to a meaningful life has touched hearts worldwide,” said the archdiocese. “This celebration is an extraordinary opportunity for people in the city and beyond they meet with pride shared by one of ours.”
Although initially there were speculation about which Chicago baseball team supported the new Pope, his brother, John Prevost, told the local chain WGN that the pontiff “was always a fan of the Sox.” Subsequently, a video 20 years ago in which the then P. Robert Prevost was attended by a 2005 World Series match between the White Sox and the Houston Astros.
The program at the White Sox stadium will include music, cinema, testimonies and prayer, and will conclude with a mass.
The event “will celebrate the election (of Pope León)”, said Cardinal Blase Cupich, archbishop of Chicago, who added that all those interested in attending must be attentive, since “more details will be announced in the next week.”
