“We would like to ask for caution and responsibility until the investigation is completed,” said the general director of the center, Francisco de Paula Suárez, who specified that 50 people work at the center and it has 760 students. “Our obligation is to protect them from comments and situations that can be highly harmful to them,” he added.
Suárez also demanded “that any violent situation such as those that have occurred in the vicinity of our school cease,” after messages with insults and threats painted on the external walls of the center appeared, whose leaders were branded “murderers.”
“Any action of this type is harming our boys and girls, all of them minors,” recalled the director, who explained that his priority “is to look after our students and their families at such a delicate time,” a task on which the Guidance and Emotional Well-being team is focused.
Finally, the center reiterated that it collaborates with the judicial investigation and that, in accordance with the recommendation of the Juvenile Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade (GRUME) of Seville, it will avoid offering “any type of information about the case.”
Last Tuesday, October 14, Sandra, 14, fell into the void upon returning from school where she had been suffering bullying for a long time, according to her parents’ complaint.
According to the information available, the Educational Inspection, dependent on the public administration, would have verified that the mandatory action protocols for these cases were not activated.
The center could lose the educational concert
The autonomous government of Andalusia has reported, through the agency Europa Pressthat the school could lose the educational agreement “if the administrative file concludes that there has been a very serious non-compliance”, as neither the harassment protocol nor the self-harming behavior protocol had been activated.
The loss of the educational agreement means that the school would stop receiving public funding and would be forced to become private, increasing costs for the students’ parents, or close if the project is unviable in that way.
For its part, the Prosecutor’s Office has opened two files research. One focuses on the possible actions of several students at the center, all minors. The other aims to determine the possible responsibilities of those responsible for the center.
