Among the speakers was Juan Pablo Pagliero, Argentine Catholic influencer and creator of the account @elrincondelcatolicowho valued the space that the Church is giving to the mission in the digital world: “Pope Francis at the time, now Pope Leo, addresses us exclusive words and that is also incredible, to see a call on this path.”
At the same time, the young man considered it very important to “be trained, trained, internalized, because God provides the tool, the means, but he also requires our yes. And a yes is also in that formation, in that training and above all in that community that is formed by walking together as a Church.”
Getting to where the Church so often cannot
The Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, Mons. Lucio Ruiz, was present at the meeting with a message in which he thanked the communicators for their service and commitment to the Church.
“The digital environment is an immense field, full of people with doubts, deep questions and open wounds. You who announce Christ from a cell phone or a publication are reaching where the Church so often cannot reach. Do not be afraid to sow with creativity and tenderness. The best network is communion and the best sign is hope,” he stated.
This in-person session was just the beginning of the “Networks” cycle, an online training program that lasts six months.
During the course of the program, participants will be supported to develop a specific digital communication project at the service of their communities.
Dafne Vergara, Specialist in Pastoral Project Management, Christian Culture, Communications and Graduates at Duoc UC, considered that “Redes” responds to the needs of Catholic communicators.
“We are part of a Church present in this digital continent. We seek to unite evangelization in networks with that which is lived face to face, generating community, accompaniment and new ways of announcing the Gospel,” he stated.
