The Catholic Church and Evangelical Confraternity have summoned to participate in a “prayer walk through Honduras” on August 16 in the afternoon, with the purpose of raising prayers for the general elections that will be held on November 30.

They also demanded that the authorities ensure that “the will of citizens, legitimately expressed at the polls, must be respected on November 30 and every four years. We do not forget the past, but we look at the future, and we do it with hope and determination.”
They clarified that this initiative does not respond to “personal ambitions, but the word of revealed God is the one that drives us to walk, and today more than ever to do it together. The good and defense of the Hondurans and Hondurans is everyone’s commitment and right.”
The day of the elections, more than six million Hondurans are called to vote to choose the next president of the Republic, 128 deputies to the National Congress, 298 mayors and 20 representatives before the Central American Parliament.
In the presidential contest, three candidates stand out: Rixi Moncada, of the Freedom and Refoundation (free) and close to President Xiomara Castro; Nasry Asfura, former mayor of Tegucigalpa and candidate of the National Party; and Salvador Nasralla, candidate for the Liberal Party.
Prayer walk through Honduras
For the walk of August 16, families, groups and civil society organizations are summoned, however, it is requested that candidates for public office “to avoid misunderstandings, are the only ones who do not attend that day.”
It was emphasized that partisan emblems will not be allowed for this walk, “because it is not a proselytizing activity, the Honduras flag will be our only shared symbol.” Attendees are invited to bring biblical quotes or other phrases that reflect the objectives of this day in an environment of peace and prayer.
With this joint call for evangelical fellowship and the Episcopal Conference of Honduras, they pointed out that seeking to send a message that in the country “there is hope, because Christ is present, and because the disciples of Christ, we will continue to pray united by our homeland.”
In the conference it was highlighted that it will walk through “life, family and democracy, with only one objective: the good of our beloved Honduras.”
