The Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM), which brings together the bishops of Latin America and the Antilles, expressed its solidarity with Bishop Pierre-André Dumas, vice president of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti, who was injured after being hit by an explosion in Puerto Prince, the capital of his country.
In it statement of February 20CELAM strongly condemns the act of violence suffered by the Bishop of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne and expresses its absolute rejection of all forms of injustice that afflict the Haitian people.
“Dear brother,” begins the letter addressed to Bishop Dumas, “we want to express to you our closeness and pain for the attack of which you have been a victim. “We regret and repudiate this act of violence, as well as express our rejection of all situations of injustice and suffering experienced by the people of that beloved country.”
