The Obras del Espíritu Santo Association, based in Costa Rica, carried out a Christmas initiative in which 35,000 children at “high social risk” were provided with breakfast, a bag of candy, cookies, apples, juices, ice cream, a lunch and the long-awaited gift of a toy.
The event, called the Christmas Party “Jesus: your Church takes care of your children,” took place at the National Stadium of Costa Rica on December 17.
Gabriel Jiménez Arias, head of communications for the Obras del Espíritu Santo Association, highlighted that this tradition, which has been celebrated since December 2000 at the initiative of Father Sergio Valverde, has experienced notable growth. “Currently, it benefits 45,000 children throughout the country.”
