Catholic Church in Colombia: August 25 fundraising campaign to sustain itself

The Catholic Church in Colombia (CEC) launched the support campaign Give it to us 2024, whose central day will be next Sunday, August 25, with the motto “To announce Christ, our hope.”

According to the CEC in a note published in its websitethis campaign seeks to “promote prayer and raise funds to make various works of evangelization a reality with an impact in the 78 ecclesiastical jurisdictions of the country.”

The funds will allow “transmitting the Good News, especially in the midst of situations of uncertainty and need, such as those currently experienced by different territories and population groups in Colombia,” in different areas such as liturgy, catechesis, education, youth, defense of life and the family

The text also specifies that part of the money collected “is sent to the 10 apostolic vicariates that exist in the country, that is, those particular Churches that, due to their isolated geographical and social reality, become mission territories with great needs.”

“Other direct beneficiaries of the collection are the emeritus bishops who, at the end of their episcopal service, some of them, or their jurisdictions, do not have sufficient resources to support their support,” he adds.

As it is also an intense instance of prayer, the bishops of Colombia have proposed a liturgical script for the masses on August 25, which can be accessed HERE.

This liturgical script has an initial monition for the masses next Sunday and a special request that says: “so that the People of God who are pilgrims in Colombia recognize the missionary work of the Church and support it effectively.”
