The organizers of the II JEMJ can venerate the relic, which has been taken from the pericardium – the membrane or bag that covers the muscle – of the heart of the Italian teenager who died of leukemia in 2006, with only 15 years.
Carlo Acutis was beatified on October 10, 2020 in Assisi (Italy), the land of San Francisco, where his remains rest.
Carlo was a video game fan and a computer programmer who loved the Eucharist, the Virgin Mary and football. The miracle that will make it Holy has as its protagonist a young woman from Costa Rica. It will be canonized on Sunday, April 27 in the Plaza de San Pedro in El Vaticano.
The II JEMJ in Covadonga
The organizers specify that this year’s motto will be “I will give you a new heart” and explain that the talk of Saturday, July 5 in the morning will be about “the Eucharistic legacy of Carlo Acutis.”
The meeting aims to deepen the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist by the hand of the Virgin Mary, in an emblematic sanctuary of the Catholic history of Spain, located in the place where the reconquest process began after the invasion of Muslims in the seventh century.
The initiative arose after the experience of the National Eucharistic Renaissance in the United States in 2023, which encouraged a group of young Spaniards of the association in progress, created that year “for the promotion and support of activities that promote the growth of Catholic life.”
The organizers emphasize that although the registration is free, it is offered for the participants “some services to facilitate meals, transport, accommodations, etc. that have a minimum cost.”
