A “spiritual revolution” for the diocese
In a note released by the Bishopric of Alcalá de Henares, the parish priest of San Pedro and San Pablo, César Alzola García, points out that “for the parish it means something very big”, but not only for it.
“It represents a spiritual revolution for Coslada and San Fernando de Henares, because they also come from other parishes to worship the Lord. Placing Christ at the center of the life of the Church is essential so that this much-desired renewal of people’s hearts can occur. “We started with this wish and I think it will be a complete blessing.”
The parish has made a form available to parishioners on its website to commit to one hour of Eucharistic adoration per week or to volunteer to substitute if a shift suddenly becomes unfilled.
Who was Carlo Acutis
Carlo Acutis was beatified in 2020 in Assisi and will be proclaimed a saint during the Adolescent Jubilee on April 27 in St. Peter’s Square.
Born in May 1991 in London, where his parents, Andrea and Antonia, were located for work reasons, a few months later his family moved to Milan. When he reached his adolescence, he was diagnosed with leukemia and died in 2006, at the age of 15.
He was buried in Assisi by his express wish, driven by his devotion to Saint Francis. His body can be venerated in a transparent tomb and his heart is preserved in a reliquary in the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.
A fan of computer programming, he dedicated much of his short life to documenting Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions. His devotion brought his parents closer to the faith.
According to Antonia Salzano, mother of the future saint, Carlo had a mystical vision in which the Virgin of Fatima asked him to consecrate himself to her Immaculate Heart and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The miracle attributed to him is the healing of a 21-year-old girl born in Costa Rica and named Valeria Valverde.
