Yesterday, the Acutis-Salzano family received the news of the approval of the miracle performed through the intercession of the young Italian blessed “with great joy, because Carlo has many faithful devotees around the world,” says the mother of the future saint.

This is so, adds Salzano, because the decision represents “a sign of hope, since it has lived in our time, with all the dangers of today. It is a sign that we too can do the same” that is, achieve holiness.

This exemplarity translates into simple, but significant things for today’s young people, such as their lack of attachment to video games: “I didn’t have favorites, I didn’t dedicate my time to that. Normally, I didn’t have much time, because I studied a lot, I had a lot of things to do.” Among them, Antonia Salzano remembers that Carlo “was a catechist for five years.”

Furthermore, he spent much of his life researching and disseminating Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions.

Carlo had a “great Marian devotion”: the Virgin of Fátima

“Carlo was a devotee of the Virgin in general,” explains Antonia, but “surely he had a great devotion, which was the Virgin of Fátima.” In some way, the young man felt “that he had many similarities with the little shepherds” who received the revelations in Portugal.

The life of the little shepherds “touched him deeply in his heart and, above all, the words of the virgin who spoke of hell, the Holy Trinity and the dogmas that the Church confirms to us,” he specifies.

The young man perceived that in Fátima “a 360-degree catechesis was given, where all our faith is concentrated,” adds Antonia.

The date of canonization could be known within 10 days

The news of the canonization of Carlo Acutis has not come as a surprise to his family, who has been informed of the entire process in its different stages with the intervention of doctors, theologians, cardinals, etc.

Furthermore, for them the news is not so new because “every day or so we receive a report of possible healing miracles. And we know that the Lord, through Carlo, is doing many miracles.”

Another thing is that, “until the Pope signed it, it was not known” that the proclamation of sanctity for the Universal Church would take place, which will take place in Rome. Regarding the date, Antonia Salzano is convinced that she will know “in 10 days at most”, although it could be sooner. “We have to wait a little bit,” she adds.

Asked about the difficult circumstance that Carlo faced cancer at a very young age, Antonia Salzano reflects on the fact that “death enters our world because of sin, but Jesus has saved us, he has given us a great sign of hope.” “He has risen.” This is why she encourages us to “look at God, knowing that Carlo has also faced death in this hope.”
