The total collection in this campaign, held on the weekend of June 7 and 8, was $ 3,034,279,801, 93.87% more than the previous edition.
According to Cáritas, this amount reflects the commitment of Argentine society, even in a complex economic context, while reaffirming the vocation of service of Caritas as a link between the Church and the most needy families.
By thanking the participation, Mons. Carrara said that this collection “not only measures donations, but the heart of our national community”, and explained that “each weight collected allows us to sustain a job that is based on the proximity with people, with the presence of our volunteers in neighborhoods and communities.”
“This is where he becomes concrete hope,” he synthesized, referring to this year’s motto: “Let’s continue organizing hope.”
“In Cáritas we understand that it is not enough to help: we seek to empower and accompany, so that people can be protagonists of their own way,” said the prelate. Therefore, beyond the economic contribution, the collection “is a call to look at the other, to remember that no one is alone. An invitation to build community from collective commitment.”
Among the areas of action of Caritas, in which it has more than 44,000 volunteers, are education, early childhood, decent work, emergencies, addictions, urban integration.
The presence of Caritas reaches the entire country through more than 3,500 teams in different parishes and community centers.
Beyond the specific contribution that is made in each annual collection, Cáritas receives donations throughout the year through www.caritas.org.ar/sumate.
