CARF Foundation asks to put one more plate at Christmas for the training of priests

The CARF Foundation proposes to “put one more dish” on the family Christmas table in the form of a donation to collaborate with the training of seminarians and diocesan priests who cannot afford their studies or these do not exist in their countries of origin.

The proposal encourages, in addition to financial collaboration, to pray for them “after blessing the table, this Christmas and every day” and to share the initiative on social networks “inspiring others to join.”

The idea of the campaign is based on the current custom in several countries of putting an extra dish on the Christmas Eve dinner table or in the traditional Christmas Day meal.

In other places, it is tradition to invite “a person from the street to dinner on such a special night. “It is a beautiful Christian custom of charity and solidarity with those most in need,” he argues. the CARF Foundation on the campaign website.

In this case, it is about “electing” one of the more than 2,000 priests, seminarians and nuns who benefit from the work of the foundation: “What do you think if you choose one of them and invite him to dinner on Christmas Eve?” ? It can’t be physically, but it can be with your special donation. We will let them know and, surely, you will have their prayer before the Child Jesus,” the foundation commits.

In 2023, the CARF Foundation allocated more than 5.5 million euros to the training of more than 2,000 people from 80 countries on five continents, primarily at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, but also at the University of Navarra and the Bidasoa International Seminary, institutions of Opus Dei.
