The group of seminarians, made up of students from the philosophy of the International College of the Legionaries of Christ, meets monthly with people “who help them deepen the gift received and how to put it better at the service of the Church”, according to the website Congregation officer.
In the meeting, which lasted about two hours at the headquarters of the Government of the city of the Vatican, Cardinal Vérgez shared some moments of his life with the young brothers and then there was space for some questions.
Who is Cardinal Fernando Vérgez?
Cardinal Fernando Vérgez was born in Salamanca (Spain), on March 1, 1945. He made his perpetual profession in the legionaries of Christ on December 25, 1965 and was ordered priest on November 26, 1969.
On August 1, 1972, he began his service at the Holy See in the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life; In April 1984, he was transferred to the Pontifical Council for the laity; In June 2004, he was appointed head of the Office of the Internet Office of the Holy See; And finally, on January 10, 2008, he was appointed director of the Directorate of Telecommunications of the State of the Vatican City.
On August 30, 2013, he was appointed general secretary of the Government of the State of the city of the Vatican and on October 15 of the same year he was elevated to episcopal dignity, assigning him the bishopric of Villamagna Di Proconsolare.
Cardinal was created by Pope Francis, in the town hall of August 27, 2022.
