“I think Cardinal Pell’s impact is very visible in Sydney. He was a great man with a great vision, and the last 20 years in the Archdiocese of Sydney has seen real growth and leadership among a number of young Catholics,” explained Bishop Umbers.
“There is an extraordinary environment there. A lot of life, especially in the field of university chaplaincy. “He (Pell) invested a lot in that area and took a lot of interest in the next generation of leaders,” he added.
According to Father Hamilton, one of the characteristics of Cardinal Pell’s legacy will be his example of strength and unity for the Church that is going through a period marked by division and mired in crisis.
“We are one Catholic Church, we have one faith, we have one Pope, we are one people. If we stay united, we are strong. If we are divided, we are weak, and I believe that his (Pell’s) testimony to us and his legacy to the Church is that we are a single, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, which he was proud to serve and which he humbly defended. as a confessor I think that leaves us an amazing and brilliant example,” he concluded.
