Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, shared this May 14, San Matías Day, a video in which he appears with Mary Bosco, of the sisters of mercy, an Irish religious of 100 years who taught him to “love and serve the Lord.”
The cardinal is, together with Bishop Robert Barron, a member of a new presidential commission on religious freedom, created by President Donald Trump on Thursday, May 1.

“I am in Tullamore, Ireland, with my dear sister Mary Bosco. He is 100 years old and taught me when I was little,” explained the purple in his X account, after being recently in Rome participating in the conclave in which Pope Leo XIV was chosen.
“For God, he is always important: He chooses us!
“That is decision in action! Thank God for calling us,” he concluded.

On January 4, 2025 Cardinal Dolan congratulated Sister Mary Bosco for her 100th birthday, and stressed that “he played a crucial role in my life,” since she was her teacher in the second, fourth and fifth grade of primary school.
“He taught me wisdom, taught me knowledge, taught me to put Jesus first. He taught me to know, love and serve the Lord, taught me to love the Church, to wish to receive the Lord in Holy Communion and strive to do my best to live the commandments and the beatitudes,” said the New York archbishop in January.
