The Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal José Cobo, has shown his support for the Manos Unidas proposal to fight against “climate injustice” through its annual campaign against hunger entitled The human effect. The only species capable of changing the planet.
The Cardinal celebrated the Sunday Eucharist in the Virgen del Mar parish, located in a working-class neighborhood in the south of Madrid, San Blas, on the occasion of the LXV Campaign against Hunger promoted by this charitable organization belonging to the Catholic Church.
“We fondly celebrate this Manos Unidas campaign that this Sunday is also linked to the Day of the Sick. From the deep experience of feeling linked to each other, Manos Unidas encourages us to fight against climate injustice. Many people suffer from it and we see it, for example, in the persistent drought that forces people to move from their cities, climate refugees,” said the Cardinal.
