The American cardinal Leo Burke, Prefect Emeritus of the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature in the Vatican and one of the cardinal voters who participated in the last conclave that chose Pope Leo XIV, shared a prayer to the Virgin of Guadalupe for the Holy Father.
In the days before the conclave, Burke had encouraged the faithful to accompany him to pray a novena – also the TEPEYAC MORENITA – by the conclave, until the successor of St. Peter was chosen.

The prayer that the American cardinal presents this Sunday, May 18 by Pope Leo XIV, on the day of the inauguration of his pontificate, has been published, in addition to Spanish, in English, German, Italian, French and Latin.
Cardinal Burke, 76, was a bishop of La Crosse, in the state of Wisconsin (United States), where he founded the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Then he was Archbishop of St. Louis. Pope Benedict XVI created him Cardinal in 2010. Between 2008 and 2014 he was a prefect of the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature in the Vatican.
