San Antonio Abad, father of Christian monks and whose feast day is every January 17, is known in the Church because he faced demons. Among his advice, one stands out in which he explains to his monks whether demons can really predict the future or not.
The biography of Saint Anthony is found in the book Greek life, attributed to Bishop Saint Athanasius, Doctor of the Church. According to Catholic Encyclopediait is a source “that today is practically unanimously accepted by scholars as a solidly historical record, and is probably an authentic work of Saint Athanasius.”
In the Life It is described that one day Saint Anthony told his monks that sometimes demons “inform us days before of the visit of brothers, and they actually arrive.” The saint explains that what demons actually do is come forward to communicate what they have seen, something that a human being could also do.
