Campaign to ask the Government of Spain to remove a magazine that mocks Catholics

He Observatory for religious freedom and conscience has launched a collection of signatures for the Government of Spain to withdraw a magazine that deeply offends Catholics.

The publication, named @XES (sex in English, backwards), shows on one of its pages the image of a crucified Jesus Christ with a penis and pubic hair and a Virgin represented by a transvestite.

This magazine, published by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, a public entity attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Equality, aims to promote, as they specify, “sexual dissidence.”

It is also a repertoire of “artists” who investigate “about or from diversity or sexual dissidence and gender issues.” Among its pages you can see images of transvestites and people from the LGBT lobby.

The author of the image of the Virgin Mary represented by a “transvestite”, Francisco Sabariego, stated on his social networks that he likes to think “about the similarity that transvestites and virgins share.”

From the Observatory, an institution that each year prepares a report on attacks on religious freedom in the country that is a reference for other international studies, they ask the ministers Manuel Albares and Ana Redondo to remove this magazine that mocks religious beliefs.

The institution also refers to the Spanish Government’s intention to repeal the crime of offending religious feelings, within the framework of a plan called “democratic regeneration.”

“They want to eliminate the protection of religious feelings from the penal code because they are the first to make fun of it,” they say.

Along with the signatures collectedthe Observatory will send a letter to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Equality to remove this publication whose content “mocks Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary and, therefore, all Christians.”
