The Bishop of Dori (Burkina Faso), Bishop Laurent Bifuré Dabire, warned that terrorists attacked the Essakane church this Sunday when Mass was being celebrated, leaving 15 dead so far.
“It is with faith and hope that we draw your attention to the terrorist attack suffered by the Catholic community of Essakane-Village today, February 25, 2024, while they were gathered for Sunday prayer,” says the African prelate in a statement spread by the local press.
Bishop Dabire indicates that the provisional report indicates that 15 faithful have been murdered, of which 12 died on the spot and 3 later, when they were being treated for their injuries. There are also 2 injured.
