The Archdiocese of Burgos has presented a “Escape Room” game that takes place in a virtual reproduction of its cathedral, and which aims to serve as a tool to publicize the temple and its spiritual, historical and artistic heritage accessible.
The game, entitled “The Secret of the Cathedral”part of the historical fact of the arrival of Napoleon’s invading troops to Burgos in 1813 and the supposed intention of the French emperor to keep an important secret document in a place in the temple.

The player’s mission is to locate the secret document and escape from the cathedral before the 12 daddies of the papamosas, an automaton gadget installed in the temple whose origin dates back to the 16th century.
Thus, through a virtual walk through the cathedral, the collection of objects and clues and deciphering enigmas, the player, in his role as a researcher, is advancing in the game, which has a time limit of an hour and a half duration.
Once all the information is collected, the player will have to put into play all his intelligence to discover a combination that opens the door of Santa María to get out of the temple and culminate the mission.
The Cabildo of the Cathedral of Burgos has announced that it will give with a tourist visit for two people to the first five finalists of the game.
The Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral of Burgos began its construction in 1221 by order of King Ferdinand III of Castile and houses architectural elements of the Gothic, the Renaissance and the Baroque. Since 1984 he is recognized as a World Heritage by UNESCO.
