The resolution adopted in Piauí also states that, “as for Mass stipends, these are eliminated for all ordinary parish celebrations of the parish,” and “celebrations at extraordinary times or that involve travel, the offer is free, remaining its regulation is the responsibility of each diocese.”
“We, in the same decree, challenge our faithful, the laity, all people, priests, everyone, the clergy to work together in evangelization and in understanding the distribution of the tithe. So that people really contribute to their church, not because they have received the sacrament, but rather they contribute to their church because of the awareness of being a church,” the bishop explained.
“This is a process resulting from an evangelizing action, if we reach this level it is a sign of maturity, and we believe in that and that is why we made this decision,” he stated.
