Inspired by the parable of the good Samaritan, the bishops of the Bolivian Episcopal Conference (CEB) announced the approach and pastoral guidelines that will follow between 2025 and 2030.
The presentation of the document, entitled “With the strength of the Holy Spirit, we encourage a Samaritan, participatory and synodal church,” took place at the headquarters of the Social Pastoral Cáritas.

In the presentation, Mons. Giovani Arana, general secretary of the CEB, express In a video: “From the Episcopal Conference, what we want is that this approach and guidelines, which will be during the 2025 to 2030 period, help us in each jurisdiction to prepare the pastoral plans, and that they serve us as a guide for a common walk in the pastoral field ”.
“Hopefully it will be of good use for both jurisdictions, pastoral vicars and of course, also reach the parishes,” he wanted.
For her part, sister Eliana Flores, secretary for the Pastoral of the Episcopate, when presenting the material explained that this “constitutes the taking of pastoral position assumed by the Bolivian Episcopal Conference to illuminate the pastoral path of jurisdictions” and mentioned the five axes on which the CEB challenges are based for the next five years, all of them linked to the exercise of the evangelizing task: mission and keigma; Sinodality, communion and fraternity; Human promotion and integral ecology; Promotion of safe spaces and care culture; and social dialogue and reconciliation.
To do this, throughout 194 points, the bishops have a diagnosis of current reality and propose lines of action, under the premise of “seeing, illuminating and acting.” Within that framework, the document “points to the communion of the jurisdictions that form CEB”, and all of them are expected to appropriate and adapt its content to the pastoral plans of the dioceses, parishes and communities.
This document, considered the religious, will be effective as long as everyone can see their own priorities, needs, and the horizon that dream.
The goal is to be “a Samaritan church, in communion with the universal church, where our relationships and the mode do things contribute to evangelize, build safe spaces, to attend the formative and missionary itineraries that lead us to be adults in the faith and determined defenders of the common house, the same as integrated and committed to social dialogue and reconciliation, ”he synthesized.
