The Cardinal Landázuri Award, established in 1978, is awarded by the Episcopal Commission for Social Communication of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference. This award pays tribute to communicators who promote peace, justice, fraternity and solidarity. Originally known as the Colibrí Prize, the name was changed in 1997 in honor of Cardinal Juan Landázuri Ricketts, Archbishop of Lima between 1955 and 1989, after his death on January 16, 1997.
